Project SAFE Students at Academy Street School Observe World Red Cross Day

June 06, 2017
Students at Academy Street School also learned about the role of the Red Cross today, and used their creative skills to make drawings that depicted scenes in which Red Cross volunteers helped people affected by natural disasters.

The final component of this project was to send the illustrations to the local Red Cross office in Summit.

However, Executive Director Christy Hodde of American Red Cross New Jersey Crossroads, decided to pay our students a visit to continue the discussion and meet the artists!

Ms. Hodde visited Project SAFE Academy Street on May 23. She shared the mission of the Red Cross, answered questions, and brought a kid-friendly newsletter for students to read.

Thank you, Ms. Hodde, and the American Red Cross for sharing this important mission and encouraging volunteerism in our youth!
