Linda Murphy, Executive Director of Operations and Outreach, has been serving the youth in the Morristown community since 1976.  She joined the Cornerstone family in 2013 as the Director of Community Development. In this role, her primary responsibilities include building strategic relationships, directing outreach activities and community events and identifying emerging needs within the community served by Morristown Neighborhood House.  Born in Greenville, NC she moved to Morristown at the age of five and completed her early education in the Morristown schools. After graduating from Morristown High School, Ms. Murphy enrolled in Marietta College in Ohio where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology; she also received certification to teach mathematics and psychology. She taught mathematics for four years at Frelinghuysen Middle School and another twenty-two years at Morristown High before accepting a position as Vice Principal in Morristown High School. After three years she was promoted to Principal, a role she served for the next seven years. In 2012, she accepted the position of Director of Human Resources and Community Engagement for the Morris School District. Prior to becoming an administrator she received the district level Governor’s Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1983 and was named a member of Who’s Who Among High School Teachers multiple times. In 2016, Ms. Murphy was the recipient of the Community Service Award from the NAACP. Other roles include coach of a variety of athletic teams, coordinator of several student advocacy and mentoring programs and an instructor for the Provisional Teacher Program of New Jersey. Ms. Murphy holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Human Service Leadership with an emphasis in technology from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station. Ms. Murphy retired from the Morris School District in 2013.
